Open Level Pilates Mat

This class is taught by:

Leslie Green

At her core, Leslie is a teacher. She began her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist working with adults in the corporate setting, then later, working with children in the public school system. She left education to manage two large retail chains and wound up back in corporate America for the next decade, but this time as a manager, where teaching continued to serve as her rhythmic pulse.

Leslie is currently a writer, speaker, trust-coach, and radio show host who shares with others how to trust themselves, love themselves and feel a deep inner peace while learning to let go of fears and worries. After undergoing several radical surgeries, Leslie regained her emotional strength, much in part to these teachings, while attributing Pilates to her continued physical recovery and strong sense of self. She is so grateful for the powerful role Pilates has played in her recovery that she has chosen to extend her scope of teaching and is now a certified Polestar Pilates instructor.

Colleen Landwerlen

Colleen Landwerlen is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Dallas after 11 years. What she gained during that time has no doubt shaped the Pilates teacher she is today. Her passion for Pilates and fitness sprouted from her 24 years combined experience in classical dance training, performing, and teaching. In 2006 after earning a B.A. in ballet from Point Park University, Colleen spent her next pre-Pilates years dancing and teaching with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and De La Arts Company. During her time at Bodiography, thanks to Maria Caruso, she received her first Pilates Mat certification in 2008 with PHI Pilates and instantly fell in love with teaching the method. New York City and Pilates go hand in hand, which is how Colleen landed in the big Apple. The past 3 years have been invaluable being surrounded by the best and she was even lucky enough to get to teach at Joseph Pilates original studio. Roberta Kirschenbaum, a 2nd generation teacher who studied with Kathy Grant and Carola Trier, acted as Colleen's mentor during her time in the city. Colleen received a one-on-one apprenticeship with Ms. Kirshenbaum and ultimately completed her comprehensive Pilates certification in 2012. As a member and teacher with the Pilates Method Alliance, Colleen has taken over 15 workshops and specialized certifications in the past two and a half years with renowned educators in the field. A few of her specialties include Pre and Post Natal, Scoliosis, Osteoporosis, dance cross-training, and simply helping to get rid of those daily aches and pains!

Janis’ background in dance and theatre, both as a performer and teacher, instilled in her a love of movement as a way of life. As a dancer, Janis recognized the benefits of Pilates for strengthening her muscles in a movement-based, effective way. She is certified to teach Polestar Reformer and Comprehensive Mat through the Kane School of Core Integration with Kelly Kane. When faced with low bone density and the rising fear of moving, Janis’ search for new ways to adapt the classic Pilates exercises to her condition led her to Rebekah Rotstein and Pilates for Buff Bones®. Janis was one of the first to become a licensed Pilates for Buff Bones® instructor. She has a strong desire to help others with similar issues find their way to a meaningful movement experience. In addition to regular continuing education, Janis makes it a point to get back to NYC as often as possible to continue to learn from the innovative faculty at the Kane School.
