Yin Yoga

This class is taught by:

Cynthia Newton

Cynthia graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders. She worked and practiced as a Speech Pathologist before becoming a paralegal for a large law firm in Dallas. She then continued her research career by doing cancer research. Research has been a passion for Cynthia for well over twenty years. God brought yoga into Cynthia’s life when she felt she “lost herself” physically, mentally, and spiritually. She was trying to perform for other people’s approval and her body was shutting down. She found yoga thanks to a friend, and it awoke in her the connection of what was going on in her body, mind, and spirit. While doing yoga, she began to let go of the past, accept the present, and love herself enough just as she was created. Yoga brought back to her the wholeness of who she was created to be.

In 2016 she felt the calling to give back and became a registered Holy Yoga instructor. She then quickly went on to receive her Yoga therapy training, which is her heart's love. Cynthia is also certified in Yin Yoga, Yoga for Twelve Steps Recovery, Trauma certified, and a Somatic Movement level 1 instructor. She has completed various other training for whole-body awareness and movement in areas such as the Vagus Nerve, Lymph system, Body reading, Foot, Pelvic, Hips, shoulders, back, breath and currently training with the Grey Institute. She is a member of Yoga Alliance, The International Association of Yoga Therapists, Christian Yoga Association, Holy Yoga, and Y12SR (Yoga for 12-Step Recovery). She strongly believes that we were made to enjoy life and that Yoga is one way to get our bodies and minds to a place where we can do the things we love!

This is a slower-paced meditative class focusing on the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body for increased mobility. This class is generally suitable for all levels of students and is a perfect complement to your more active workout or yoga classes. This class uses mainly floor poses held for longer periods of time.
