Minds in Motion

This class is taught by:

Cailey Schafer

Beginning her path as a pre-professional ballerina at Chamberlain Ballet, Cailey Brandon found a passion for Pilates that widened beyond the boundaries of cross-training. She has experienced firsthand how injuries leave dancers putting in overtime and individuals managing a less than ideal quality of life. Pilates, an incredible way to stabilize both the core and balance receptors, helped Cailey retire from pointe shoes to become a comprehensively certified Pilates instructor who believes in the power of the mind-body connection. Aspiring to prove how movement can aid in both physical and mental wellbeing, she accomplished her undergrad in Cognitive Psychology and is continuing a Masters in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience. Specializing in both pain and neurological injury, Cailey wants to further implement her clients’ understanding of embodied cognition and neuroplasticity through a healing form of controlled movement and exercise.
This 2-day workshop is a comprehensive approach to neurological paradigms for movement practitioners. Bridging the gap between neurology and pathophysiology, this course will teach you how to explain, identify and assist neurological disease and common movement disorders. This course is designed for those educated in functional movement practices such as pilates, yoga, physical therapy and/or other forms of mindful movement. Expand your knowledge of anatomy, neuroanatomy and pathophysiologies that are not easily identified by first glance. Learn how neural correlates correspond to particular movement patterns and how to better serve those with specific movement disorders. This course will not only allow you to yield faster and greater results for tricky situations, it will also increase your overall horizons as a movement practitioner, seeing lasting results when working with anyone that has a brain! December 6th and 7th 9am-5pm.
